County Veteran I.D. Cards
Issuance of Veteran Identification Cards
By Appointment Only
Identification cards will be issued only to veterans. Applicants for ID cards must meet the following conditions.

Applicant must provide an original or a certified copy of their military discharge. No photocopy will be accepted. If original or certified copy is not available, it can be requested from National Personal Records Center (NPRC).

Resident of Athens County
b. Provide, while appearing in person, two forms of current and valid identification, at least one of which bears a photograph of the individual.
c. The following documents are valid forms of identification:

An original or certified birth certificate.

An identification card issued by the United States department of veterans affairs.

A United States military identification card.
-
A social security card.
-
A license or permit to carry a concealed weapon issued by this state or any other state.
-
A motor vehicle operator’s license issued by this state or any other state that bears a photograph of the licensee.
-
An identification card issued by this state or any other state that bears a photograph of the individual identified.
-
A valid passport that bears a photograph of the individual to whom the passport was issued.

A United States armed forces discharge record.
ID’s can be issued to those with the following discharges:

Honorable
-
Under Honorable Conditions
-
General
ID card is issued without guarantee that it will be accepted as proof of service, and without guarantee that merchants or agencies will recognize the ID card for discounts or any other purpose.
